This quote summarizes exactly how I feel about relationships. It’s amazing how many times (in relationships) people feel the need to merge lives together. This isn’t something that happens right away - but occurs over a period of time. In time one or both people who are dating will begin to let-go of the life they lived, friends they saw, routines they kept and lose themselves into the others. 

Typical examples of this behaviour

• They stop coming out with a group of friends to hang out with their boy/girlfriend
• Constantly cancelling on plans in which the other is not included “because they’re going to be lonely”
• When you finally do get them to hang out with you, they get bombarded with phone calls/BBMs/Text messages asking where they are and when they’re coming back.

I’m not trying to be cynical, but not all relationships are meant to last - which is why couples often find themselves in mental shock of having to be “alone” again, or “rebuild” their lives after one ends. 

The most important thing to take away from this quote is the concept of keeping YOUR OWN life running parallel.

BE your own person - LIVE your own life, and based on your mutual love for each other - CREATE another one together.
